In honour of Employee Appreciation Day we asked our Art Director Dawnice Williams to answer 20 burning questions.

  1. How many years have you been a graphic designer? I have been a designer for 8 years. I was hired by P&P as a designer, then became senior designer, and now I am an Art Director.

  1. Why did you choose graphic design as a profession? I was always an artsy kid, but it wasn’t until I joined a graphic arts program in high school that I decided I wanted to be a graphic designer.

  1. Favourite aspect of your job? Developing a brand’s new visual identity

  1. Favourite design-related channel? The Futur

  1. What is the best thing about working agency-side? I think the atmosphere is much more collaborative and creative. Also, I love that every day is different.

  1. How has being in an agency contributed to professional growth?Because each client could ask for something different, it opens up the opportunity for me to learn new skills. In the past 2 years I have taught myself website design and video storyboarding.

  1. Serif or sans serif? Sans, but serifs are making a comeback, so….

  1. How did your job change after the pandemic? Working from home meant we had to make a more concerted effort to teamwork, and also the type of work we were doing at the agency shifted somewhat. For example, we had an increase in demand for video design and graphics or presentations for our clients’ Zoom meetings. 

  1. What’s the most useless talent you have? I am double-jointed so I am excellent at limbo dancing.

  1. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A chef

  1. If you were not a graphic artist, what job would you have? A Musician 

  1. If humans lost the ability to see all colour except one, which colour would you want to see? Teal

  1. If you could be any superhero, which would you be? The Flash

  1. If you could know the absolute and total truth to one question, what question would you ask? Do aliens exist?

  1. What technology from science fiction do you wish existed? Teleportation

  1. In a zombie apocalypse, what will your job be? Zombie hunter

  1. What job would you be absolutely terrible at? Politician

  1. What would your perfect vacation be? Remote cabin in Bali with no technology 

  1. What product would you seriously stockpile if you found out they weren’t going to sell it anymore? Sour Neon gummy worms

  1. Would you rather be completely alone for 5 years or constantly be surrounded by people and never be alone for 5 years? I am an introvert, so alone.
